Do you like to sing?
Would like your child to have fun, learn to read music, build friendships across all age groups, and grow in confidence?
Come join Waltham’s Fearless and Fabulous Choir.
Peter Harle begins as Organist and Choir Leader in September 2018. Peter has decades of experience as a music teacher and choir director. It was the children in the choir who interviewed and appointed him, and we are really looking forward to this new phase of our musical life at All Saints, Waltham.
Through the Autumn, we’ll be recruiting new members to sing at Remembrance, Nine Lessons & Carols, Christmas, and throughout the season. We are looking for members from all voice parts, and will be working with the local schools to build up a larger children’s choir.
Choir rehearsals are on Thursday evenings from 6.30 – 8 pm. For the first half hour, it’s just children and sopranos, so that young choir members have time to learn basic skills well. Then from 7 – 8 pm, we all gather together.
To get the most you can out of choir, it does take time. If your child is really serious about music, you’ll need to think of this like swimming practice or football. Singing will become the pattern of their life, and you will find yourself supporting them not only at Thursday rehearsals, and Sunday services, but at summer schools, holiday concerts, and trips to cathedrals all over the country. If that’s your hope, then plan to commit to most Thursday evenings, most Sunday mornings, and many Sunday evenings during term time — and know that you are giving your child a gift that they will take with them through their whole lives.
But we know family life is complicated, and not everyone can commit to weekly rehearsals and two services on Sundays. Talk with us, and we will work with you to figure out what is possible, and to find a way for you to join in.
