Young Church

Children are welcome any time in the Waltham Group. We expect age appropriate noises and movement, and there is no need to worry about keeping your child silent or still. However, we know lots of people do worry, so we offer some things that are easy to be a part of, no matter what happens. Please do try to come for the start time listed so that you don’t miss the story or the instructions for the day.

smAll Saints – Diddy Disciples

On the 4th Sunday of the month, there is a special service for very young children, their parents and friends. This is a chance for families to meet together with other people at a similar point in life and to explore Christian faith in a space where we all yield to the needs of the youngest among us. The pattern is intentionally repetitive, so that young children can learn to join in quickly. After the story, song and prayers, there is a chance for adults to chat about baptism (and fill in the paperwork), while the children do crafts or play. You can learn more about Diddy Disciples here.

smAll Saints — 4th Sundays of the Month, 11 am. All Saints, Waltham

Spark is an after-school group for primary school children and their families.

It meets fortnightly, after school on Thursdays (3.15 – 4.30 pm). There will be a snack first, then a story, crafts and a song. Some of the stories will be from scripture, some will be seasonal. The stories are offered to spark imagination, not limit beliefs.

Note – When Covid rates were so high in the winter, we stopped meeting since schools were keeping class bubbles separate. Spark will resume after the Easter holidays.

Safety & Registration

Adult leaders will wear masks, and we encourage all adults to wear masks to help keep unvaccinated children safe. Activities will be set up so that children can choose to work with friends or classmates they already mix with, or with no more than 5 others.

To help us plan, and to keep covid safe, we ask that you register in advance if possible. The registration form is only needed once each year, for all the different activities your child may wish to join.

Parents or guardians should accompany children on the first occasion, and then let us know if your child is coming with you, or with a friend and their parent or guardian. Teenagers may wish to join in as young leaders. Teens should bring their parent or guardian along for their first session, and then we will make a plan together for future dates.
