On Sunday, 19 January, the congregation of All Saints, Waltham will join with Waltham Methodist Church for their annual Covenant Service.
The Covenant Service is a time for remembering who we are in relation to God and each other. It offers an invitation to trust God absolutely, and to offer ourselves in love and service. It is both of one most beautiful and most demanding prayers we will every be asked to say:
I am no longer my own but yours.
Put me to what you will, rank me with whom you will;
put me to doing, put me to suffering;
let me be employed for you, or laid aside for you,
exalted for you, or brought low for you;
let me be full, let me be empty,
let me have all things, let me have nothing:
I freely and wholeheartedly yield all things
to your pleasure and disposal.
And now, glorious and blessed God,
Father, Son and Holy Spirit,
you are mine and I am yours. So be it.
And the covenant now made on earth,
let it be ratified in heaven.
There is more information on the covenant service here, from the Methodist Church in Britain.
I hope you can join us this Sunday at 10.30 am at Waltham Methodist Church.
