Ever wish for a bit of quiet? Time to read… to think… to do nothing.
Every Tuesday night, St Matthew’s Church in New Waltham offers sanctuary.
From 7 – 7.30 pm, people gather. There’s cake, coffee and conversation, and in the last few minutes, a short story or reflection is read aloud.
From 7.30 – 8.30 pm, the church is yours to use as you wish in silence. You can read, knit, paint, pray, or just be still away from the demands of the day.
At 8.30 pm, those who wish gather at the back of the church for Compline — a short service of night prayer.
These evenings are lay led, and everyone is welcome to take a turn baking cake, making coffee, reading aloud, or leading the prayers. Or you can just come. It’s about being, not doing.
