Every day that has passed this week, we have had to rethink how we live our lives, and how we embody faith in this time of uncertainty.
There will be four posts today, explaining in more detail what will be happening in terms of our Prayer & Worship, Funerals, Weddings, and Baptisms. Kimberly and Rachel will be ringing everyone on the parish rolls this week, to invite you to join the telephone tree, and the WhatsApp groups so that we can help look out for each other, and respond to needs as they arise. These groups are not just for those who normally go to church. Please encourage others — whether they may need help or can give help to others.
Details about how to join are in last week’s post here.
There is also a community facebook page you may want to join: Waltham Covid-19 mutual aid.
You have probably heard that all public worship is suspended, as we try to avoid physical contact with others as much as possible. Please read the Prayer & Worship post to learn more about how we can stay connected through this time.
At this point, I am not trying to live stream worship, nor committing to a regular schedule of online offerings — phone calls are this weekend’s priority to make sure everyone has what they need, and has a plan if they need help. Do keep an eye on the webpage and facebook page, however. I will be offering links to other churches that are live-streaming this weekend, and resources for our own community in the days ahead.
Finally, could I encourage you, please, to stay safe. I am meeting too many people in the streets who are saying, ‘I’m healthy. I don’t need to stay inside.’ This virus is viscous and net yet well understood. Right now, staying inside is how we help each other. If you are over 70 or in a high risk category, and you do not have someone else to do your shopping, get in touch, and we will find a way to get you what you need.
